It is a biodegradable polymer in industrial composting (T> 60 ° C).

Bio-based homopolymer, PLA can be obtained from corn starch, like it is the case for our bag , making it the first natural alternative to polyethylene (the term bioplastic is used). Indeed, PLA is a product resulting from the fermentation of sugars or starch under the effect of bacteria synthesizing lactic acid. In a second step, the lactic acid is polymerized by a new fermentation process, to become polylactic acid.

It is used in food packaging (eggs, mineral water, fruits and vegetables, etc.), to replace plastic bags and tote bags hitherto distributed in shops, or in the manufacture of many objects injected, extruded or thermoformed.

L'acide polylactique (anglais : polylactic acid, abrégé en PLA) est un polymère biodégradable en compostage industriel (T>60 °C).

Homopolymère biosourcé, le PLA peut être obtenu à partir d'amidon de maïs, comme c'est le cas pour notre sac ce qui en fait la première alternative naturelle au polyéthylène (le terme de bioplastique est utilisé). En effet, le PLA est un produit résultant de la fermentation des sucres ou de l'amidon sous l'effet de bactéries synthétisant l'acide lactique. Dans un second temps, l'acide lactique est polymérisé par un nouveau procédé de fermentation, pour devenir de l'acide polylactique.

Il est utilisé dans l'emballage alimentaire (œufs, eau minérale, fruits et légumes, etc.), pour remplacer les sacs et cabas en plastiques jusqu'ici distribués dans les commerces, ou dans la fabrication de très nombreux objets injectés, extrudés ou thermoformés.
